MT. HOOD, Ore. -- As they have in years past, Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl flicked up the lights and turned on the music for their cosmic tubing - what a difference a year makes!

On opening weekend last year, Skibowl restricted tubing to a small two-lane hill. Employees say it was not cold enough to make snow. This year, conditions are different. Saturday night, Skibowl East, where the cosmic tubing experience is set up, was a cool mid-twenties with wind pushing the powder around.

A return to bountiful snow, or a third winter in a row when snow is in short supply? Only time will tell.

Skibowl is the lowest of the Mount Hood ski areas, with the Lower Bowl bottoming out at 3,600 feet in elevation. Skibowl has always been through more rain and low snow cycles than resorts higher up the hill, at Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows.

We are developing an application/process to make snow at any temperature, allowing for the tube hill to remain open  for this holiday weekend despite warm temperatures and lack of natural snow.

Mt. Hood Skibowl is ready for the holidays with the Snow Tube & Adventure Park open seven days a week starting Friday December 19^th, and a host of events to keep everyone entertained. We have been able to make over three feet of snow with our snowmaking machines, ensuring there will be plenty of snow for the tube hill.
