As soon as photos of a snow-covered Mt. Hood Skibowl surfaced on the resort’s social media pages in early December, the most common question was, “When are you going to open?”

MT. HOOD, Ore. -- As they have in years past, Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl flicked up the lights and turned on the music for their cosmic tubing - what a difference a year makes!
On opening weekend last year, Skibowl restricted tubing to a small two-lane hill. Employees say it was not cold enough to make snow. This year, conditions are different. Saturday night, Skibowl East, where the cosmic tubing experience is set up, was a cool mid-twenties with wind pushing the powder around.

Veteran outdoor writer for the Oregonian, Terry Richards knows a good story when he sees one. He recently visited Skibowl to see what we are doing to keep things going on the mountain during a challenging season.
"Nearly a decade ago, when lack of snow put the brakes on winter fun at Mt. Hood, Government Camp's ski area waited until late January to open, then managed to operate only a couple dozen days all winter. This time around, Mt. Hood Skibowl opened at Thanksgiving and has already been operating for more than 40 days".

With Portland Public Schools students not in class this Friday, Skibowl has extended the hours the Snow Tube and Adventure Park will be open. The Tube Hill, Conveyor Lift, Zip Line, Kiddy Snomobiles and the Super Play Zone will be open from 10:00am to 5:00pm, with Cosmic Tubing following from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. The newly remodeleld Multorpor Lodge will be open to serve you with a fully stocked Cafe and the new 70 Meter Bar & Grill. Expanding Winter Adventure Park Featured in the Oregonian

Our expanding Snow Tube & Adventure Park was recently featured in the Oregonian as the first class tubing hill on Mt. Hood. With new expansions to the park this past year including the conveyor lift for easy access to the lodge and to the top of the tubing hill, plus added features such as group lanes, the toddler tube hill, and other is what makes this winter adventure park stand out as the best in the area.

On December 15, 2012, Mt. Hood Skibowl will celebrate the opening of the Snow Tube and Adventure Park at Skibowl East with thrilling adventures in time to kick off the holiday season. The Tube hill and conveyor lift will open for the season Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Frosty and Santa will be on hand from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for pictures and fun.
