Race Training and Schools: Advanced Ski Lessons

Once young skiers age 6-8 are able to ride the lifts, negotiate intermediate terrain, and put on their own equipment they are welcome to join a Learn to Race Ski Camp coordinated by the Mt. Hood Race Team.

Three Learn to Race camps are held on three consecutive Saturdays in December and January or held over three days during winter break. All skiers age 6-8 must be accompanied by an adult. It’s a great way to spend time with your kids and other parents who share a passion for skiing.

After the camp, racers are welcome to join the Mt. Hood Race Team.

Skiers ages 9 – 12 can try a Learn to Race camp to test their interest in ski racing or they can join the Mount Hood Race Team directly. If a skier decides to join the team after completing a Learn to Race Camp, the cost of the camp is applied to his or her team membership.

All Learn to Race Camps are conducted at Mt. Hood Skibowl. Coaches meet participants inside the Skibowl Multorpor Lodge at 9:30 am. Skiers break for lunch at 11:30 and ski training ends at 2:30 p.m. Free skiing follows.

The Mt. Hood Race Team is part of the Mt. Hood Ski Education Foundation, (MHSEF). Located in Government Camp, MHSEF was created in 1983 by local supporters of competitive skiing with one simple goal: To provide excellence in ski training and education for amateur skiers on Mount Hood. For nearly 30 years, MHSEF has been providing rewarding experiences in winter sports and recreation for youth and families. Find out more at www.mthoodacademy.org.
