Want to Become an Instructor? Come join the Olympic Ski School at SkiBowl family!
Are you passionate about skiing or snowboarding? Would you like to improve your skiing or snowboarding skills while helping others do the same? Do you like to teach? If so, the Olympic Ski School at SkiBowl just might be the place for you this Winter. As the 2017/18 Winter approaches, we are actively recruiting ski and snowboard instructors of all levels — including prospective first year instructors — and we would love to hear from you!
As if the satisfaction of ushering in a new generation of skiers and snowboarders isn’t already enough, here are a few additional benefits we offer our instructors:
- Free Season Pass to SkiBowl (with 16 day instructor commitment)
- Access to Pro Deals
- Competitive Pay
- Discounts on Food and Gear at SkiBowl
- Lift Privileges
- Four-day instructor clinic
- Ongoing instructor training throughout the season, in addition to the four-day clinic
To receive the benefits listed above, we require a commitment of 16 days worked throughout the 2017/18 season. We ask you to be available during the Winter Holiday Break with additional days spread out throughout the rest of the Winter season.
Facts about the program:
- You do not need to be an incredible skier or snowboarder to be a good instructor. Most of our students are brand new to the sport, so all you need is solid intermediate skill and a desire to learn and teach. We provide you with the with the teaching progressions and skill during our four day clinic.
- There is no minimum age to be a qualified instructor. You simply need some maturity around people, some on-the-snow experience, and a strong desire and commitment to help others love the winter experience as much as you do. Having fun safely is our number one priority!
- After the four day training clinics, each candidate will be individually informed of her or his success. Those receiving a positive evaluation have the opportunity to serve as an instructor apprentice and receive free lift tickets for each day they are teaching. For the first 6-10 teaching hours, apprentice instructors will assist other instructors with classes and attend additional educational clinics.
- At the end of the apprenticeship period, those that are ready will have their names added to our instructor rotation log in the ski school. At that point, you will begin earning wages and bonuses.
