2 snowstorms this week at Mt. Hood Skibowl!
The first real snow at the resort of 2014 has arrived, more is on the way.
The details:
A cold front passed through Wednesday evening, and colder showers will continue through Thursday afternoon
- 5-7" is likely at Gov't Camp and the base area by Thursday afternoon, most of that falls overnight
- 8-12" on the Upper Bowl by Thursday evening
That's the good news; we'll get a fresh coating of snow on the mountain. Unfortunately the snow level jumps during the day Friday ahead of a powerful storm. This is normal with our wet Pacific storms with warm air ahead of the cold front then heavy snow after the cold front and strong west wind arrives. In this case that will happen during the day Saturday.
We'll definitely be issuing another powder alert for at least a foot of snow between midday Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
