Fresh Snow Through Midday Saturday
An unusually strong cold front moved over Mt. Hood Friday evening, dropping temperatures at Skibowl from the mid 40s in the afternoon well down into the 20s now. And the good news is that it'll stay cold through Sunday. This won't be a storm that'll drop FEET of snow, but considering we're starting from zero again at the base, any snow dumping is good news!
How much snow?
6-10" total new snow by early afternoon.
6" or so at the base and 10" on the top of Upper Bowl.
With the temperatures perfect (15-25 degrees) for snowmaking all day Saturday through Sunday morning, the snow guns should be blazing at full throttle as well, adding to the coverage on the lowest runs.
Long Range: Sunday will be dry, but then quite a bit of precipitation shows up Monday & early Tuesday. Big question is how high the snow level will go. It could end up as high as 6,500' later Monday (bad), or if we get lucky and keep some of the cold air banked up against the eastern crest of the mountains it might stay closer to 4,000' (good). Tough call for now. I'll know more by Sunday.
Think Snow!
