THIS POWDER ALERT IS FOR SATURDAY MORNING
Get ready for a great weekend!
We've seen some rain off/on this week at Government Camp, but that changes after Friday morning. For the first time since last weekend snow levels will lower below 4,000'. By Sunday it's down around 2,000'! When that happens it means a colder airmass and lighter/drier snow. So the quality of the snow goes up quite a bit as the weekend progresses.
A cold front moves into the Cascades late morning Friday...until that time snow levels will be up around 5,000'. During the afternoon cooler temperatures mean snow starts sticking down to Government Camp. Strong westerly flow pushes moisture into the Cascades through Friday evening and overnight. After daybreak Saturday the showers will taper off a bit.
I expect 4-8" new snow by Friday afternoon, then an additional 4-8" Friday evening through Saturday evening. The heaviest snow falls Friday evening/overnight
STORM TOTAL SNOW TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY P.M. 8" base to 15" on Upper Bowl
I don't expect much additional snow for Sunday, but temperatures stay nice and cool
Long Range: The cool weather pattern sticks around through midweek, then warmer/drier after Wednesday. A dumping of snow is possible Tuesday, although some models keep us dry.
