About Us
Skibowl was founded in 1927 and is one of the oldest operating ski resorts in the United States. With 65 Day, 34 night lit runs and America’s Largest Night Ski Area, as well as the closest resort to Portland, Skibowl offers the best value on Mt. Hood.
Kirk Hanna purchased the area out of bankruptcy in 1987 and has become the longest and most successful operator of the resort in its history. Skibowl is a pioneer in bringing snow tubing on Mt. Hood and developing the Snow Tube and Adventure Park, featuring a conveyor lift providing access to multiple tube lanes, a two story, 2400 sq. ft. indoor play zone, 800′ of zip lines, and the world’s only Cosmic Tubing, offering winter snow play activities for all.
What started out as a vision for owner/operator Kirk Hanna in 1987 with the purchase of Mt. Hood Skibowl has transformed into a full fledged summer Adventure Park with over 20 attractions. At the beginning there was the NW’s only 1/2 mile dual Alpine Slide, but starting in the summer of 1988 attractions such as Indy Karts and miniature golf were added, with more attractions added each year. Now Skibowl offers a comprehensive summer program with over 20 attractions and the new home of Malibu Raceway. Mt. Hood Skibowl hosts groups, corporate picnics, weddings and birthdays. Group sizes up to 6,000 people can be accommodated.
