Tomorrow, January 8th, is the first of two Tele Tuesday events at Mt. Hood Skibowl. The second event is scheduled for February 5th. The event includes demo Telemark and Alpine Touring gear from the Mountain Shop, Telemark lessons for beginning and intermediate level skiers provided by WyEast Nordic, an uphill/downhill race-also known as a rondo race and an Avalanche transceiver demo put on by Timberline Mountain Guides.
The equipment demo is from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, lessons and the race start at 7:00pm and the Avalanche transceiver demo is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. All activities are based out of the Outback Lodge where Terminal Gravity beer will be on tap with $3.00 pints. Proceeds from the beer sales will be donated to the Snowriders Foundation. Registration for all events is from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.
Tele Tuesday is sponsored by the Mountain Shop of Portland and is a benefit for the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center (NWAC). NWAC promotes safety by helping reduce the impacts of avalanches and adverse mountain weather on recreation, industry and transportation in Washington, and northern Oregon through data collection, mountain weather and avalanche forecasting and education.
