Celebrate the life of Bill Johnson!
Join us on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 in celebrating the life of our local hero, and the first American to win a gold medal in an alpine skiing event at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. Bill trained with Mitey Mites and Mt. Hood Skibowl when he was young, and was training at Skibowl for his come-back attempt before his accident.
A continental breakfast will be held at the Historic mid-mountain Warming Hut at 9:00am, followed at 9:45am by the dedication of the Bill Johnson Ski Run (formerly known as Dog Leg).
At 12:30pm try your skill at the Bill Johnson Dual GS Race on the newly dedicated run. The race is open to all ages and ablilities.
Head to the 70 Meters Bar & Grill in the Multopor Lodge as Bill's Mitey Mite racer successors will ski down the Cascade chair ,in formation, to present the gold medal he won in 1984 to his mother, DB. Stay afterword to share/hear stories of Bill's life.
All donations will benefit the Bill Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
